ZICOOL is a quaternary ammonium with broad-spectrum antiseptic properties. Its salt form, cetylpyridinium chloride, is commonly found as an active ingredient in mouthwashes, toothpastes, throat sprays, inhalation sprays, and nasal sprays. In these products, it generally mediates a strong topical antiseptic and anesthetic activity and protective action against dental plaques and reduction of gingivitis.
It is also used to help prevent common oral health problems such as bad breath, plaque, cavities, gum inflammation and tooth stains. ZICOOL mouthwash is also intended for gargling in the throat and is considered a suitable agent to eliminate bacteria in the oral cavity.
